Storing Fresh Mussels In The Fridge
1) Fresh, uncooked mussels need to be stored either loose or within the mesh bag they were sold in. If they were provided in a plastic bag, remove from the plastic and store loose.
2) Place the mussels in a bowl or unsealed container.
3) Cover with a damp cloth or paper towel and place in the fridge.
4) Strain any water that collects in the bowl or container daily.
Once you’re ready to cook, just take them out of the refrigerator and give them one last smell to ensure freshness. They should smell fresh and salty, just like the ocean.
