Make sure to add some ’mussel’ to your barbecues and get cooking with fresh PEI Mussels!

MUSSEL UP YOUR GRILL WITH 3 EASY BARBECUE COOKING OPTIONS!

STRAIGHT ON THE GRILL

Turn on your barbecue to medium and using tongs, place the mussels directly on the clean grill. Have a spray bottle near by and mist the mussels throughout with water or even wine or beer; this will help prevent the shells from burning. After 4-5 minutes, the shells will start to open. Using the tongs, remove from the grill and enjoy.

TIN FOIL PACKETS

Have fun with flavours when cooking PEI Mussels within aluminium foil packets on the grill, or over a campfire or fire pit. Place the mussels in the centre of the foil, toss in flavour options like garlic, onions or even ginger, add a couple of ounces of your favourite beverage, and then seal the foil. Cook for 5-6 minutes and then let cool for a bit before opening to serve.

BBQ SIDE BURNER

Don’t let that barbecue side burner go unused when cooking other dishes on the main grill. Just grab a pot with a lid to make what we expect will be your new favourite way to cook on the grill; ‘Mussels in Barbecue Sauce’. Follow the recipe to mix up a few tasty ingredients with fresh PEI Mussels, then cover, crank the side burner to high, and leave to steam for 6-8 minutes or until steam is barreling out from the lid.
